Sir Peter Blake: A Museum for Myself
Monday, April 18, 2011 If you missed The Museum of Everything in London recently, a new exhibition of Sir Peter Blake's collections opens in Bath on the 15th May, running until the 4th September.
A Museum for Myself will feature collections of ephemera, that Blake has for many years hoarded in his studio, providing a kaleidoscopic insight into some of the obsessions reflected in his work.
The exhibition will be the opening show at the newly restored and transformed Holbourne Museum, itself built around an individual's personal collection (Sir Thomas William Holburne). The museum hopes that it will be the first in a series of exhibitions exploring the figure of the collector and the creative act of collection.
Blake recently spoke about his work and his lifelong obsession with collecting in this interview with the Huffington Post.
