The collection: Postwar ceramics.
The story behind the collection...
I have an obsession; seeking out and collecting the ceramics of my time, primarily post war American ceramics and some Japanese, British and European ones. Most of the work in the collection was created during the 80's and 90's know as "The Golden Age of American Ceramics"- vessels, sculptures, figural, narrative, decorative, architectural, and psychological objects reflect the iconoclasms of the 80's and 90's.
The objects you see here are but few of the hundreds of pieces in the collection. I collect for emotional, aesthetic and technical reasons.

I live in a 3-story townhouse close to famous Rittenhouse Square. Once through the front door you are greeted by a collection of ceramic art, paintings, and mid century furniture. Individual works begin to visually surface - Doug Jeck's amputated figure Hierloom close by David Regan's whale shaped tureen, then Robert Brady's human scale correspondent. With another sweep across the room, you see works of Adrian Saxe, Ken Price, Ron Nagle. Jean Piere Laroucque's Horse serves as room divider, and opposite it, an ambiquous form by Graham Marks lies on the floor. It obliquely faces Viola Frey's larger than life size Woman with Orange Hand guarding additional works comprising the selective 20-year history of American ceramics.

(Among the notable pieces in the collection are works by: Ken Price, Ron Nagle, Peter Voulkos, Viola frey, Adrian Saxe, Betty Woodman, Ken Ferguson, Karen Breschi, Warren Mackensie, Shoji Hamada, Akio Takamori, Patti Warashina, Toshiko Takaesu, Beatrice Wood, Robert Brady, Lucian Pompili, Nancy Carman, Bill Daley, Robert Turner, George Timock, Judy Moonelis, Michael lucero, Ken Little, Ruth Duckworth, Andrea Gill, John Gill, Elsa Rady, David Leach, Phillip Mayberry, John Mason, Gustavo Perez, Ralph Bacerra, Val Cushing, Michael Frimkiss, Richard Notkins, Graham Marks, Jan Holcomb, Cristina Bertoni, Wayne Higby and Doug Jeck.)
